Sabrina Teller – Environmental Attorney, Remy Moose Manley, LLP

My practice focuses on California and federal environmental and land use law, especially the California Environmental Quality Act and the National Environmental Policy Act. My firm represents state and local agencies, developers, and occasionally neighborhood and environmental groups in all phases of environmental review, land use entitlement processes, agency rulemaking, and litigation. My firm literally wrote the book on CEQA. Our treatise, Guide to CEQA, is used by planners, lawyers, and judges and has been cited in numerous appellate decisions. We counsel our clients on how best to comply with state and federal environmental review requirements in order to get through the entitlement and development process with a defensible record, and defend them in mandamus litigation through the trial courts and appellate courts. I also regularly teach continuing education courses on CEQA to planners and lawyers around the state.

I keep hoping for the day that I get to challenge opposing counsel to a max squat, in heels.

Cori Preheim – Extreme K9’s Dog Walking Service

I am currently the only dog walking business providing off leash adventures on the river. Probably because off leash dogs are not legal at the river and I’m the only one crazy enough to walk six dogs at a time. How does one learn this skill you ask? I am completely self taught and I’ve watched every episode of the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan. I am totally qualified! While this is all true, I have now spent over six years honing my skills and logged thousands of hours out with the dogs. Malcom Gladwell wrote about the “10,000 hour rule”. It takes 10,000 hours to achieve mastery in any given field.  I’m getting close folks, very close to achieving pack leader mastery in off-leash dog walking. There should be a certificate for these things!

In 2010, I had been a police officer for 12 years. We were planning to have our first child and I desperately wanted to be present when we raised our babies. I took our dog out to the river often and looked online for someone who could hike with her when I was at work. None of the local dog walkers offered this service. The idea for off-leash adventures and the call of the outdoors took hold and never let go. I borrowed my friends dogs, I scouted river accesses and trails, removed fish hooks, avoided rattle snakes, had all the dogs jump out of the truck on me…it was regularly a three ring circus for the first year. I thought, “No wonder no one is doing this; I must be insane.” Thankfully I am a little nuts and when our first daughter was born in 2012, I quit my very secure career (pension and all). I have never been happier, even when one of the dogs rolls in dead fish.
Today we are a legit service. I hired my first employee this year (thank you Ballas for the background check!). We offer daily pack hikes at the river rain or shine, Monday through Friday. We can also do weekends with a little notice and I am able to board well behaved dogs in our home. When your dog becomes a pack member, you are considered family to us. Check out our website and like our Facebook. Come run with the pack!

Avenue about a mile from Aquila Fitness. I currently specialize in defending public entities located throughout northern California in personal injury, civil rights, and employment matters in both federal and state court. Our firm has a broad civil litigation practice including personal injury, construction defect, medical malpractice, employment, and business related matters. Laura Goulding – Sac Valley Alarm Safe and Lock

I am third generation to two East Sacramento businesses that operate next door to each other. And while I’ve essentially been a part of the businesses my entire life, I only started receiving a paycheck once I was in college, and working part-time during my summer and winter breaks. Currently, I only work in the office on Wednesdays and Fridays, helping out wherever needed in the billing department, providing secretarial assistance, running parts to our technicians in the field or submitting fire plans to the Fire Departments.
My maternal grandparents originally started in the security industry back in 1947 when they purchased Certified Safe and Lock Company, Inc. (C.S.L.S., Inc.).
As my uncle and mom grew older, they found themselves as a locksmith and bookkeeper, respectively, alongside my grandpa and grandma. Back in those days, security technology was simply, locks, keys and safes. But, in 1972, under the guidance of my always curious uncle who wanted to discover how these new things called “computers” were going to play a role in future security abilities, Sacramento Valley Alarm Security System, Inc. (SVA) was born as a sister company to the already well established C.S.L.S., Inc. My mom became my uncle’s right hand when it came to building and guiding the business in what eventually became a well known name in the area of security in Sacramento. Their dream was to own and operate their own U.L. Listed Central Station in Sacramento, in the very building we still operate in today. And, with a lot of work, but in a reasonably short amount of time…their dream became a reality. It took little time after that to obtain accounts from three other alarm security businesses in the Sacramento area, for which we monitored alongside our growing number of accounts.
In the early 2000s we began using Radios to monitor the systems we were installing, which eventually led us to also use Cellular monitoring.
With every new avenue of security, knowledge of technology and space had to increase, and our little monitoring station outgrew itself. So, in 2011, as a means to assist my uncle into a much deserved retirement, and to help with our space issue, we transferred our monitoring station over to another, local business. And while we no longer operate as a 24/7/365 business out of our main office on Folsom Blvd, we are all still actively involved with working closely with our monitoring station so to provide the best product and service to our current and future customers.
C.S.L.S., Inc. is also still very much thriving! Most of our customers are dual customers, where they receive all their security needs from both companies.
I invite you to visit our website at www.sacalarm.com and checkout our “Internet Special” of a simple home alarm system. If that is too basic of a system, however, and you’d prefer something a little more custom, please contact our office at (916) 452-1481 and ask to set up a FREE consultation for a security system designed to your liking so to receive 10% off of a new alarm installation! Also, feel free to head into the Certified Safe & Lock showroom to receive 10% of your key purchase. For either 10% discount, just mention “Aquila Discount,” and our technicians will take care of you!

Holly Bramble – Marriage/Family Therapist

I have been interested in psychotherapy and mental health since high school, and pretty much knew I wanted to be a therapist from a young age. I graduated from UC Davis in 2006, and started working at a Residential Treatment Facility for youth in Vacaville. I got my Master’s Degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland in 2009, and then returned to California to begin the long process of accruing 3,000 hours of client contact before being able to sit for the MFT licensing exam. In that time, I worked for Stanford Youth Solutions (formerly Stanford Home for Children), a non-profit, children’s mental health agency in Sacramento. From there, I fell into a job at an Intensive Outpatient Program for severe presentations of anxiety disorders. I found I really enjoyed working with anxiety and co-occurring issues, and I was lucky enough to receive specialized training through this position. In 2014, I passed the licensing exam and opened a private practice, specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders.

Currently, I work as a Mental Health Therapist for the Elk Grove Unified School District, and continue to operate my private practice with a small caseload two evenings a week. I love my job. During the day, I spend time with youngsters addressing a wide variety of mental health issues in a school setting. And in my private practice, I mostly work with individual adults who are coping with some form of anxiety issue. Even though I have a specialization in anxiety, I have experience with a range of issues. The reason I chose Couple and Family Therapy rather than Clinical Psychology or Social Work is the emphasis on family relational dynamics and the effects these have on who we are and our well-being. So, I also enjoy working with individuals who are hoping to further explore this area of their lives, as well as couples/families who are wanting help working through relational challenges.

I’m passionate about addressing the stigma that often accompanies the topic of mental health, and am happy to be a resource for anyone regarding these issues!!!

Matt Morrow – Surveyor

I’m one of a few 3rd generation Land Surveyors in California.  My grandfather surveyed land, my dad surveys land, and now I’m surveying land.  What the hell is  Land Surveying anyway?  Simply put its measuring distances and angles on the surface of the Earth.  This translates into what we actually do, which is provide construction staking for housing subdivision and commercial development, mapping services (Parcel Maps, Final Maps, and Record of Survey’s), boundary and topographic survey’s for planning purposes, and ALTA Survey’s for financing purposes.  I’m relegated to my desk these days, mainly writing proposals and meeting with clients, and running a crew of about 13 people.  We work throughout the state, mainly in the greater Sacramento region and the Bay Area, but we do have jobs down in the Socal area. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions on surveying or need my two cents on anything.  Most often than not, people don’t realize they need a surveyor, until they need a surveyor.

Since 1983, Morrow Surveying, Inc. has provided high quality surveying and mapping services for engineers, architects, and building professionals throughout California. During the past 25 years, we have developed an in-depth knowledge of California and the greater Sacramento area, and provided valuable professional surveys on numerous projects. Always adhering to our core value of conducting our business with honesty, integrity and fairness, and noted for its high standards, quality workmanship and attention to detail, Morrow has grown to one of the largest land surveying firms in Northern California area and serves clients throughout the state.
