There are many daunting skills and high hurdles we must jump over to become proficient CrossFitters. In a group setting where everyone is doing to the same WOD program each day and they are going to work for the most part on the same drills we choose to employ that day, some individual needs can get overlooked. The coaches attention is spread over 5 to 8 athletes who all have different abilities and technique flaws. Although group training has its advantages, some of you may not be able to reach your full potentials without some private instruction. If you are feeling like there is something that is just not clicking for you, or you have certain areas that are lagging behind it may be time to do a few private coaching session where you will get 100% attention and the teaching techniques can be tailored specifically to your needs.
Dave (shown above), like many of you has struggled with technique on his Oly lifts, specifically the "early arm pull," a.k.a. "the mortal sin of weightlifting." After just 2 sessions Dave's form is looking much better. We were able to address his specific needs and take baby steps, not allowing him to progress unless his technique is satisfactory. I can see many examples of athletes in our membership that could greatly benefit from this type of attention. We all have different deficiencies that may or may not be getting addressed properly in a group setting. For some it is getting that first pull up, for some its mobility, for some its dealing with injuries. If you have specific needs contact one of our coaches and schedule a couple of sessions to get some extra attention to your personal needs. We also offer small group training, so if a few of you want to focus on the same elements you can get the cost per person down by grouping up. See our private coaching page for details on cost.
