Rest Day
Bungee Jumping from CrossFit East Sac on Vimeo.
We were all out at the State Fair Friday night eating fried snickers and drinking. While I was standing in line to get another fired peanut butter cup, PaleNo for sure, I looked and saw the bungee jumping crane. I instantly got a tingly feeling in my stomach. It scared to even think of the idea of jumping off that crane. So what do you think I did? I went straight back to the table where everyone was and I said, “I am going to bungee jump! Come on lets do it!” It took a minute of convincing, but I was able to talk Tony and Ryan into giving it a go. Right after we jumped Loren and Travis got fired up to give it a shot as well.
I had played it cool the whole time like I was excited to do it, which I was, but I was also pretty terrified and adrenaline pumped all at the same time. I have to say, there is nothing quite like stepping to the edge, facing your own mortality, saying to yourself “Fuck it!” and taking a leap of faith. It was the most alive I have felt in a long time.
I strongly urge you all to go to the fair, pay the 12 bucks to get in, and then pay the 40 bucks to face your fear and overcome it. We do something like this everyday in the gym, but jumping of a 7-story crane and facing Fight Gone Bad just do not have the same effect. I promise you, if you can muster up the courage to jump, you will be so stoked that you did it and it will be something you will never forget.
Come on now. When is the last time you did something that scared the shit out of yourself? Go do it… I dare you.
