Adaptations Anyone?

3 Rounds for Time:
10 Ground to Overhead 135/95
20 Pull Ups
30 Hollow Rocks
40 KB Sumo Dead Lift High Pull 70/44
50 Vertical Leaps Jumps touch a target 18"/12" above your highest reach

Todays workout has to deal with ground to overhead.  Make sure you meat with a coach if you aren't comfortable with the proper technique.  There are several ways to go after this, many of which can lead to injury once the clock starts.  Today I want you guys to focus on the best option to stay fast yet safe!

  • Unbroken? You better be able to stay tight and pick a managable weight so you don't get sloppy
  • Power Clean and Push Press
  • Power Clean and Push Jerk
  • Drop from the top and reset after each rep

Whatever you choose, make sure you are tight during your deadlift and overhead portion of this lift.

  • Adaptations class was a bigger success than I expected. There have been some motivated people asking a lot of questions regarding what to do next.  If you attended the lecture portion, you should have filled out an info sheet with your name and email address so I could add you to a "blast" list.  This e-mail blast and group texting blast will be the main way this class is conducted.  Please contact me if you didn't fill one out. chris@crossfiteastsac.com

Classes are not manditory, but they will help a lot!  I will be sending out ADAPTATIONS and variations to the existing WOD's for Tuesdays and Saturdays.  I will send these out the night before and you will be able to prepare before you walk in the box.  This way you can all stay on your regularly scheduled classes.

Due to the demand of the class and others asking if they can participate, I will be conducting a weekend repeat of this discussion/lecture, followed by the baseline workout. Time will be announced.

Looking forward to working with you guys and seeing the progress!

  1. So when do we meat? And where’s the beef?

  2. Chris

We can ‘meat’ when ever you want and I have your beef! As for the adaptations class… I am leaning toward this Saturday from 11am to 1pm this Saturday if there is enough interest. However, I will be charging 10 bucks per person for this one. Please put your name down on the Adaptations board if you are interested.

Anyone who did fill out a form and didn’t receive an email blast from me regarding some goals… Please place your email in the comment sections here. I received 3 bounce backs. Either I entered wrong, couldn’t read your writing or you don’t know your own address. Jen R. I have jlr.jfkhs@hotmail.com Katy J. I have katyj@citofwestsacramento.org and Lemuel I have lemuel.lara@yahoo.com
Please let me know if there is a mistake on any of these ASAP!

Justin calling someone out on a typo is like me calling someone out on lumbar curve. Or shoulder flexibility. Or stamina. Or attendance. This isn’t going how I planned.

Lene were you thinking about my meat on your grill again?

    The . should be a _
I gotta say, if your gonna have a typo, this one has a lot to recommend it. Turning “meat” into a noun is almost clever enough to appear intentional. Almost…

Hey, I will be conducting a replay of Adaptations this Saturday from 11-1pm for $10.00 per person this go around. Many people are asking and I sent out a massive blast to membership already and figured I would place it here as well. Lecture and Base-line Testing workout will happen again.
Place your name on the board if you are attending.

Chris, I filled out a form last Saturday, but haven’t yet received an e-mail blast regarding goals. E-mail is dmmiche@pacbell.net.
    Pete, funniest comment award again!
Lastly, the stomach flu is not fun! Bacon doesn’t even sound good.

I meant “verb,” of course. That’s what I get for blog-commenting while on the job.
