Community – a social, religious, occupational, or other group sharing common
characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as
distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists
(usually prec. by the): the business community; the community of scholars; the CrossFit community.
Community is one of the company values of CFES. We work hard to create a team environment within our members and to hold events where we can get to know one another better. CrossFit has been compared to a cult or a tribe by many. The suffering we endure together and the knowledge of something that outsiders do not understand, helps us to share a bond with people who we might have never met otherwise. The result is that we end up with a huge support group of those who share our pain, our goals, and our triumphs. You can travel half way across the world and find a box of people who will welcome you with open arms and cheer you on through a WOD. They will know what you mean when you ask what what their Fight Gone Bad score is, and you will know how much suffering went into that achievement. When you receive coaching on say your deadlift, it will sound the same as what you heard here at home. The community within the gym and the greater CF community causes us all to strive for constant improvement, and to celebrate other people's achievements. This is one of the most powerful aspects of CrossFit.
