10 rounds of farmers carry and burpees was a pure test of will power.  When you’re grip, lungs and whole body screams at you to stop, what do you do?  Do you listen or do you push through?  Did you take lighter weights knowing it’s going to hurt and avoid the suffering before it ever begins?  Or did you take heavy weights and embrace the suck?

Remember the more suffering you can endure, the more your performance will improve.  The more your performance improves, the better you will look.  Let’s face it, you’re not here for your health, you just want to be hotter naked.  Well there is a direct correlation between your performance and your physique, so shoot for performance.

While keeping in mind that the more you can endure, the better you’ll perform over time, it is important to listen to your bodies when you feel pain.  Working out causes discomfort and you need to embrace that feeling, but pain is different.  Recently we have had a couple of you come in with tweaks or injuries and the same story.  You felt pain on a certain movement and kept pushing through it anyway.  When you feel pain, listen to your body.  Pain is your bodies way of sending you a message, and if you work through it, your body will get really pissed.  If something doesn’t feel right, let your coaches know right away so we can assess what may be happening and modify your WOD.

Injured people have more trouble getting or staying fit.  We are here to keep you all safe, but we can’t really tell when you are hurting unless you tell us.  Keep open communication with your coaches on how your bodies are feeling.  Discomfort happens mostly in your lungs and your minds.  Sure there is some muscle fatigue that doesn’t feel good either, but still pain is a different feeling.  Pain happens in your joints and muscle attachments, and causes you to want to move away from the thing that hurts.  Recognize the difference between the two sensations and be smart.  We can only do so much in terms of saving you guys from yourselves.  There are times to be tough and there are times to be smart.  Since you aren’t going to make any money as a CrossFit athlete, it is prudent to err on the side of smart.  Remember to embrace the discomfort of your WOD, but be smart if you have the sensation of pain, have open communication with your coach, and scale your WODs when appropriate!
