Finally we have finished announcing all the requirements for the Level I testing process and arranged all the videos in one place. There is a lot of material to study and learn. Instead of being overwhelmed by all the material, we suggest that you hammer on one portion of the test at a time and really try to learn all the key points of each portion. Try to focus on one portion of the test per week and start identifying the portions of each movement that you will struggle with. Watch the videos, read the descriptions, and learn every day at class. The more ways you absorb the information, the more they will all re-enforce each other, and the more you will retain. As you start to identify your own short comings, we can give you strategies to overcome these specific issues.
The deal with this whole testing process is that we want you all to become masters of the basic functional movements and gain the knowledge of these movements that will allow you to really thrive in our program. Mastery of the fundamentals is the key to getting the most out of this program, and it is imperative to moving on to more challenging movements. The better you get at the basics, the more you will increase your longevity in this program and your potential to succeed. There is really no point in attempting to learn the snatch if you have yet to perform a satisfactory overhead squat.
The best athetes in CrossFit take time to learn about movements and self-analyze their short-comings. We have attempted to put out quality information that is right at your fingertips. This is the stuff that we want you all to focus on. Please take full advantage and make yourself a better CrossFitter. Don't expect it all to happen in the gym.
The test material can be permanently found in on the CF East Sac Videos page under the link CFES Level I Test Material.
We have not completely decided how to manage the logistical nightmare of testing all 200 of you, but we will report back to you with our final plan shortly. In the mean time, start to familiarize yourself with the material.
