Well… we have to give it up to three amazing teams who all were very deserving of the top 3 spots and will without a doubt represent Nor Cal very well at the CF Games 2011.  TJ's Gym had a dominating performance with amazing athletes across the board.  The maturity of the athletes and the depth of their gym is going to be a force to be reckoned at Home Depot Center.

Big props to our neighbors, Rocklin CF who showed up and performed consistently throughout the weekend.  I have seen the intensity of their training and the progress of all their athletes over the last two years.  Gary has done a great job with his squad.

We gave Diablo a good run for their money and forced them to earn their 3rd place slot, but at the end of the day, with one 14th place finish, we were not quite consistent enough to get in the top 3.

All of our athletes performed amazingly and I am so proud of all of them.  We put the best squad out there that our gym could field and we left it all on the field, no regrets.  I will say it for all of us, it's disappointing to come that close to qualifying and just barely miss, but it's important to recognize the quality and talent of those who we were competing against.  They are all truly amazing athletes and if they could beat the squad we put out there, they truly earned it.  Also, big thanks to all of our fans who came out to support our team.  It's great to have you all there and we appreciate that you took the time to come out and support us.

Sunday started off with a bang as Trav and Brooke put on a show taking second place in the muscle up/snatch WOD.  They paced themselves perfectly and kept mistakes to an absolute minimum.  Brooke did not miss a single muscle up!  Great job girl.  It was so fun to get one last competition in with you!  Diablo struggled with this WOD putting us back in striking distance for the last WOD, 2 points down.

The last WOD went pretty well for us, but Diablo came out with a dominating performance taking a 1st place finish and ending our competition season.  Hats off to Diablo, another great affiliate and a great bunch of competitors.  Jeremy and Craig, if you guys happen to see this, Trav and I challenge you both to an owners only showdown, you even can pick the WODs!  Kidding of course, congrats guys.

As for the individuals, it was awe inspiring to see little Annie Sakamoto go out there, a good decade older than the rest of the pack, and manage a 3rd place finish.  She is so inspiring to watch and is one of the most genuine people you could ever meet.  Nor Cal S&C's stud Jenny Labaw took second and Ulyse Umeda from Hawaii smashed all the WODs to take 1st over the women's competition.

As for the men, the people's champ Jason Khalipa showed us all what is possible in the realm of fitness competition.  The guy just couldn't be phased.  It was amazing to watch.  Our boy Gabe Subry from 209 Sport took second with some outstanding efforts.  Our CFES teammate, Blair Morrison took 3rd with stellar performances and a major comeback after a botched first WOD involving poor pacing of handstand push ups.

Blair finished up the last chipper with an amazing come from behind passing of the crowds least favorite, Neal Maddox, in the last 100 feet of lunges.  Neal was heavily booed by the crowd after many questionable reps in the DB floor to overhead, as well as questionable reps in other WODs.  When Blair made the pass on Neal in the last seconds of the WOD, the entire crowd rose to it's feet screaming in excitement.  Congrats brother, you deserve this qualifying spot more than anyone else out there.  Go kill it in the games!

Lastly, I think it is important to mention how great this entire event was organized and run.  Hats off to Andy Boone from TJ's Gym and Austin Begiebing from CF Milpitas who organized the event.  TJ Belger did a fantastic job as the even emcee.  The judges and volunteers were outstanding as usual and are really the ones who make it all happen.

The whole event was seamless from start to finish and had the most professional feel I had ever experienced at CF event.  The bar has been raised on what a CF event should be.  I am sure Reebok's involvement had a lot to do with this.  Look for the new CF Reebok shoe to be releasing around the holidays this year, it looks pretty sick!
