Speaking of getting out and trying new things, Anne Harty has been saying that it would be fun to get together a group to go out to the Sac State Aquatic Center and do some rowing out on the actual water. (Not that the view in the box isn’t very scenic, but…) I would love to do this—anyone else? Anne, if you’re seeing this, thought it would be great to get the ball rolling!

How funny! Jessica Santos and I were just talking about that the other day. I would love to do some rowing at the Aquatic Center. Count me in.

I’d be interested in rowing for real. We also have a few collegiate rowers in the box (Picco?).

Matt P. bought a discus and shot put, which have sat around unthrown or putted since their arrival. I think we need to get a group to check those out. As a reference, the men’s shot world record is 75’10” and the discus wr is 243′ 1/2″. I’m betting we need no where near that much space.

I have thrown my shot put… It does not fly well. I think it has aerodynamic issues. It also seems very heavy. The disc is the worst frisbee I have ever owned.

Count me in for rowing! The water is so much better than the rowing machine…no comparison. And I am sure Maggie would be in as well.

Yay, glad folks are interested in rowing! I can call the Aquatic Center about availability/schedule/pricing for groups and put up a sign-up sheet in the gym to get email addresses for interested parties so we can coordinate.

  10. I have been thinking about getting a new bike!

Great post Josh! I whole heartedly agree! Reminds me of an aha moment I had when I got to the top of Mt. Whitney…no matter who you are and what you believe your limitations to be…set a goal. Do whatever is in your control to make it happen, it can be done.
