on December 2nd, 2009 Matt Bishop (CF Solano member) suffered from a heart
aneurysm.  Matt was 31 years old
and is survived by his wife and two beautiful daughters; ages 9 and four months
old.  Matt recently completed his
service with the United States Navy and lived with his wife (who is active duty
United States Navy) and family on Travis Air Force Base.

Among the many things Matt enjoyed doing was pursuing fitness and constantly
pushing himself to new levels.  In
this pursuit Matt began a fitness program called CrossFit; a unique blend of
Olympic weight lifting, gymnastic training and cardiovascular
conditioning.  Matt wrote this
about his experience with CrossFit:

I
CrossFit because….It challenges my mind beyond what I think my body can do.
To overcoming these challenges makes you stronger, and your body will follow.
This unique system of exercise and philosophy draws only dedicated individuals
looking for real change in their life; to be healthy, confident, and grow
companionship's along the way. I joined this team not long ago and already I
feel a part of this machine we call CROSSFIT SOLANO. We are a mixed bag of
elite people who desire a common goal. Again, thanks to all the instructors and
the positive motivation from my fellow CrossFitters
.

Matt
was part of our family at CrossFit Solano.  To honor Matt and help his family through this unexpected
tragedy CrossFit Solano will be doing his favorite workout on Saturday,
December 12th at 9 AM. We will stay until all participants have completed the
workout.  This is open to all skill
levels and athletic abilities. No CrossFit Experience Necessary.

CF Solano will be asking for a $5 to $10 donation
from each participant.  Funds raised from this event will go to the Bishop
Family to help them through this tragedy.   Grab a friend, grab a
neighbor, grab a family member and come help our Fallen CrossFitter and his
family.

*Classes tomorrow will be as normally scheduled, but I encourage as many of you as possible to head down to CrossFit Solano and participate in the memorial WOD instead.  We will meet here at CFES at 8:00 AM and arrange carpools down to Fairfield to be at the event by 9:00 AM.  Directions to CF Solano can be found hereYou all have been fantastic in your giving and your support of our community in these circumstances.  Lets continue this trend of helping out our fellow CrossFitters and their families who are in need.
