I was born in Sacramento, but grew up on a sailboat off Central America (long story – my Mom was a huge hippie). I went to high school in Santa Cruz and college at UC Santa Barbara. Then I got a degree in teaching and spent two years teaching English as a Peace Corps volunteer in China. After that I went to law school at Boston University. My then-girlfriend, now-wife was living here in Sacramento, so I came back here to be with her and find a job. Now I’m an attorney for the State Legislature and a proud dad of a 3-month-old son, my world entire.
My hobbies are basically reading, playing chess, and playing and watching sports. I played football in high school for two years and basketball has been a staple of my existence since childhood. I dabbled in rock climbing for a year, trained in ping pong in China, and have consistently lifted weights since I was a teenager.
CrossFit appealed to me because I had grown tired of trying to get big and got more interested in overall fitness. I’m 32 now and need a more focused, efficient work out regimen, particularly given the arrival of the laddie and the fact that I’m working my way back from ACL reconstructive surgery (I can’t quit you, basketball). My short-term goal is to figure out how to do the CrossFitty type movements like kipping and freaking double-unders. Every time I try those double-unders, I look like I got whipped by a sadist. My long-term goal is to always be in better shape than I was the year before.
