Position and Speed

Rest Day

If you are going to snatch big like this beast, you are going to need
great speed and positioning.  Look how extended his body is in the
finish position (Pic 2*).  That is a POWERFUL jump and notice his elbows have
still not pulled the bar up.  Then in the blink of an eye, he is ripping himself violently down under the bar to support is.  This is an amazing and beautiful display of athleticism.  I can't remember this guys last name, but I
heard many other lifters call him "Jumpin' John."  He snatched 145kg,
or 320lb in this picture at a body weight under 94kg, or 207.

*if you have a really good eye, you will see that in the second picture there is more weight on the bar than in the others.  It was actually from another attempt that was missed.  All the other pictures were take at high speed from the previous lift.  The guy moved from mid thigh to full extension, and back nearly under the bar in a fraction of a second that the camera couldn't capture.  Thank you Ryan Hall for the great photography.
