Sunday, August 21st
>> Attention Aquila Ladies <<
With less than 2 weeks to go, it’s safe to say… our “Wine-Scursion” is quickly approaching!
Here are a few last reminders as to what to do and what to expect…
Those 27 of you, who have signed up for this 6 hour event, will be meeting up at 9:45am. Because there was a concern as to whether our overly large PARTY BUS was to fit in the Antique Mall/Aquila parking lot during Sunday brunch and shopping hours, our PICKUP LOCATION HAS CHANGED!!! Don’t worry…it’s still close by, and if you ever happen to partake in the WOD on days that include the “Aquila 5k” or live in the area, or happened to go to “Pops In The Park” this past June, then you should have no issue finding our NEW PICKUP LOCATION of … Glenn Hall Park in River Park … 5415 Sandburg Drive.
We will be dropped back off at this same location at/around 4:00pm…so, if you think you’ll need someone to safely drive you home, please make sure to make those arrangements.
A few minor heads-up regarding what is/isn’t allowed on the PARTY BUS…
- NO glass containers are allowed on the bus. Whatever wine you choose to buy, will be stored in the under compartment of the bus.
- Plastic bottles of water, sports drinks, etc, ARE permitted
- You ARE allowed to bring canned beverages, if you choose to (a warm-up round of beer, perhaps?)
- NO food will be allowed to be consumed on the bus. If you are wanting to bring a packed lunch, and/or some snacks with you for the day (which it’s recommended to bring something to soak up some of that wine tasting you’ll be doing), you will be able to safely store them in the under compartment of the bus prior to boarding. We do have time set aside during our tour to take a break, enjoy the scenery and eat/snack.
- Also, for your reference, some cheese, crackers, veggies, etc., will be provided to snack on, but if you want something more substantial, you’ll want to bring that with you.
- As much as we may want to, 🙂 feather boas and body paint are NOT allowed. 🙂
- For obvious reasons, there is NO vomiting on the bus…or else we are susceptible to a minimum cleaning fee of $500, so let’s try to keep things as classy as possible ladies. 🙂
Ok. Onto more upbeat, not so serious, “Debbie-Downer” information.
Our itinerary for the day is as follows:
- 9:45am – Meet at Glenn Hall Park to board the PARTY BUS and head out to our first stop. (45 minute drive to 1st winery)
- 11:00am -12:00pm – Villa Toscano ( villatoscano.com )
- $5 per person tasting fee
- 12:00pm – 1:00pm – Lunch/Snacks at Andis Wines
- 1:00pm – 1:50pm – Andis Wines ( andiswines.com )
- $10 per person tasting fee
- 2:00pm – 3:15pm – Borjon Winery ( borjonwinery.com )
- $5, $10 & $15 tasting fee, depending on what tasting option you choose
- 3:15pm-4:00pm – Drive back to gym (45 minute drive)
**To make sure we do not lose our tasting reservations that have been pre-made at each winery, it is HIGHLY IMPORTANT that we leave each location on time! While each winery is within close proximity to each other, there are a LOT of us, and we’ll be drinking, so we’ll have to do our best to keep on schedule. Plus, a late fee for being dropped off back at Glenn Hall after 4:00pm, is not something to look forward to. Let’s spend our money on wine, instead! 🙂
So…if you have NOT signed up for this event and you want to go (YOU SHOULD TOTALLY GO!!), THERE IS STILL ROOM! No one cares if you’ve been a member of the gym since it originally opened, or if you’re just starting your CF101 classes… ALL ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO JOIN! This will be a great way to get to know one another! Our PARTY BUS holds up to 30 people. We are currently booked as a group of 27. Which means…there are still 3 spots left! Same rules/pricing applies… $50 per person, to be paid to Laura Goulding via check or money order, or you can pay through PayPal using her name and email address of leg17sdsu@yahoo.com . It would be SO AWESOME if we could fill our PARTY BUS to the max and have as many Aquila Ladies participate on this “Wine-Scursion” as possible! Clear your calendar, take some time for yourself, call in sick if you have to work, or even take the next day off if you think you won’t be properly functioning by then, and JOIN the following women on this DAY OF FUN!

Laura you are the best!!!! Thank you for all your planning/organizing! Can’t wait!
Sabrina
No body paint? Lame. 😉
Jennifer R.
Agreed. But I also understand how out of hand things can get with body paint.
What I really don’t understand is the no feather boas rule. Is out driver a cockatoo?
