2013GamesPicture_rotator2Alright it’s that time of year again! On January 15th visit games.crossfit.com to sign up on the CFES team for this year’s CrossFit Games Open. For anyone who doesn’t know what the Open is:
A five week worldwide competition. 1 wod a week. You complete it at the gym, or send in a video of you performing it. Everyone is ranked in the world. The top athletes and teams are then invited to regional competition. The top finishers in regions go to the CrossFit Games in Carson, CA in July.
If you have done it before or not, just sign up and see how you do. It will show you where you have improved, as well as, what weaknesses you need to work on.For those that have competed in it before, leave some comments encouraging our new members (AKA calling them out) to participate.

C’mon peeps, let’s go for 100% member participation. I, for one, am ready to rock the pregnant female masters 40-44 year old category. That top 20 finish is mine!

Happy F-ing birthday to Pat Harty. Thanks for the misery this morning with the Masters class at 8 am. Good to see Pat joining the club with Dave, Kelly, Traci and I.

Sabrina, you will be kicking my 40-44 masters female ass six ways to Sunday and I am not remotely knocked up.

I kind of like the schedule change (having until Monday afternoon to submit scores–it was Sunday previously, right?). And I stand ready to be randomly drug tested per the new rules.

Random note: This morning’s WOD was great. Loved how the rest intervals allowed me to stay really consistent from round to round.

    Happy birthday, Pat!

Kate, the Monday submission comes along with a new Thursday announcement, so the 4 day window to do the workout is the same.

I realized that–I just happen to like the shift in the window (better in case of weekend travel, for me anyway).

I agree with Sabrina, unless you know you will be gone during that time, everyone should participate. We already do workouts that are scored every day. And, the Open WODs are structured generally so that everyone should be able to get some points. Even if you don’t, just scale as you would for any other workout. On related note, anyone have comments about the video requirements? It looks like they could be required, or is that just to move on to Regionals? Also, new wrinkle in Masters this year, as top 200 move to next round of Open…..keeps things interesting.

    Pat, Happy Birthday, young man!

  5. If you don’t do it, you are wussing out. Its a great event that all participants in CrossFit should take part in.

Happy birthday Pat! The Ocho got to do 40 seconds on today to celebrate.
