Triathlete Turned Athlete

Rest Day

Picture 2
I’m 35 and come from a fairly extensive background in endurance sports. I’ve completed 20 marathons, a couple 50k ultra marathons, countless triathlons (including an Ironman distance), several open water swims (4 time Alcatraz escapee) and about a dozen double centuries (200 miles on a bike in one day). Throughout my life, my purpose in participating in these events was to stay healthy and combat stress.

Over the years, I have endured my share of injuries: shin splints, achy knees, hips, and ankles and even a broken leg from running too much.

In the months since I started at CFES, I have noticed huge improvements in overall fitness. Even though I’ve cut back my running down to one or two short runs a week, my speed has improved dramatically. What’s more, all of those nagging aches and pains from my old work-outs have disappeared.

I think the best way to describe the difference is that before CrossFit I felt a little fragile and burned out. I was always nursing an injury and just trying to keep going. Now, I feel strong, my posture has improved, I’ve dropped about 3 inches off my waist and my clothes fit a lot better.

Oh yeah, and now I can run a sub 6:00 minute mile and lift 375 pounds off the floor.
