IMG_3116During Rachel’s entire first year here at CrossFit she had to modify certain exercises, mainly pull up movements, due to a torn rotator cuff from a rock climbing mishap.  She had told me when she joined that she would be having surgery at some point and would need to take time off.

I emailed Rachel about 3 months ago to see how she was doing and encouraged her to think about coming back.  She responded letting me know that she was a website designer and she could tell I needed some help, which I did at the time.  So we decided to trade services for a while.  For the record, anything that is unfinished on our site at this point is my fault and everything that is awesome is Rachel’s fault.  Check out www.rachelskolnick.com if you need help with a website.

Although Rachel did a good job of staying fit post surgery, our goal was to get her strong again, increase shoulder mobility, and get her used to scaling the class WODs appropriately to keep her shoulder safe.

Now about 6 months post surgery and after about 10 weeks of private training, Rachel is back.  She is shown here doing a jumping pull up with full range of motion.  You can see a slight difference in mobility, so anything involving high forces on the shoulder is still out until range of motion is normal, but Rachel is getting kick ass workouts none the less.

Great job to a dedicated and hard working athlete on continuing to overcome a tough injury and continuing to kick ass.
