Sorry no action shots yet, but here is the team just after check-in on Thursday evening.  There is just nothing like the CrossFit Games.  The athletes are amazing, the resources are limitless, the WODs have been stellar, and the spectators are amazing.

We got off to a great start yesterday, coming in 1st in our morning heat, on a tough WOD.  2 Rounds of 70 Thrusters 155/105, 50 Chest to Bar Pull Ups, and Partner carry about 70m per person.  All the reps were 1 athlete working at a time, except the carry in which we had to pair up and switch partners at the half way point.  The thrusters were brutally heavy for that many reps, leaving our quads smoked and cramping.  We crushed the pull ups and did great on partner carry's, never setting one another down except to make the switch.  Loren and Brooked performed amazingly with the heavy thruster load.  We finished the WOD in 11:11 with a 12:00 cut off, placing us 16th overall.  Only 32 of the 68 teams competing finished in the allotted time.

The next WOD was a bit different, it was actually a 2 WOD continuous combo with two separate scores.  It was also the first CrossFit team WOD to use all six team members.  For the first portion, we lined up on a course of 1 minute stations and rotated in one by one.  First was 1 minute max deadlifts followed by a 1 minute rest while the next athlete moved onto deadlifts.  Then it was 1 minute of max reps alternating pistols, one legged squats.  Then another rest before rowing for max calories.  The total reps from this first portion was our score for event 2.  As we finished that portion of the WOD, we all funneled into the second part of the WOD which was max shoulder to overhead, any way, out of a rack.  We had 12 minutes from when the first athlete arrived at the rack for all of us to funnel in and make our best attempts.  It was hectic and it was a blast as we scrambled to change weights while taking turns going overhead.  We could take turns in any order.  The last athlete arrived to this portion with only 2 minutes left to get their best lift!  We struggled on the first portion of the WOD, lacking proficiency in the pistols and taking 56th overall in that portion.  We came strong on the second portion, the shoulder to overhead, with a total of 1120, putting us in 14th place in that event.  Lots of fun and lots of strategy.  Our women lifted amazing, especially considering the time crunch and brutality we faced immediately before.  Anne and Loren both jerked 135, and Beast Brooke hit 145.

We are currently sitting in 25 place, with the top 48 teams moving on to the second day.  We performed as well as we could on the WODs we were given. We are amped for day two and are going into it with expectations of climbing back up the in the standings.  Our first WOD will be at 11:00 AM, so grab a nice frosty AM brew and log onto live.crossfit.com to check out the action.
