Mixing Fun with Movement

Power Snatch 3-3-2-2-1-1-1

AMRAP 10 Minutes:
3 Box Jumps as High as Possible
5 DB Clean and Press as Heavy as Possible

If you haven't played dodgeball since you were a kid, don't miss out on this next season. The rules are simple… throw a rubber ball at the players on the opposing team and avoiding being hit yourself (Ok, there's a bit more to it, but you get the general idea). Remember, you don't have to be super athletic, you just need to have the instinct to get out of the way when an object is thrown at you! The next league starts on March 22nd and signups start next week.

Here are the specifics: – 21 and over only. – Teams are co-ed – 5 guys and 3 girls play each game. – Games are played every Thursday starting March 22nd for 8-10 weeks (Week 9 and 10 if the team makes the playoffs). Games are 30min long and start between 6:30pm and 10pm (game times differ each week) at the Boys and Girls Club at 12th and G Street.

– Cost is $72 per player. – Registration includes a team t-shirt that must be worn at games. – After your dodgeball game, head to Blue Cue bar for discounted pitchers of beer for all dodgeball players, flip cup and beer pong!  There are only 11-13 players per team (up to 8 guys and 5 girls per team) and the team WILL FILL UP QUICKLY, so if you want in, sign up Now! To sign up, contact:

Danny at danny.rentschler@gmail.com or 916.216.3266.

Sorry, not on the dodgeball topic, but I saw an interesting site about crossfit- this one is three myths about opening your own affiliate and while I think it is sorely lacking in that aspect because there is a ton of work that goes into operating any business, it does have an interest take on why nothing is ‘going to be the death’ of crossfit (even Panda Express sponsoring the Games a few years ago). Take a look:

  2. Chris: that is super cool!

  3. Mike: good news is that’s quick read. But I don’t really care.
Crossfit is dangerous. Speed will encourage bad form. I consider that a fact of life. I’m thankful that Justin, Travis, Chris, Blake, Aaron and Josh are good at coaching. I’m glad I choose to use what common sense I have (left!) to gauge my own abilities.
When I called Justin on the phone to schedule a time to come in and join up, he said, “do you know what you’re in for?”. I said yes, which was true, because I had been to the gym a couple of times to watch.
Without the intensity, the heart pounding rush, the need to perform difficult tasks under pressure, crossfit is not interesting.
There are plenty of other incredibly useful activities: Tai Chi, Yoga, Pilates, Ballet. Basketball. Whatever. People should find what works best for them.
    Cheers.

  4. Looks like we are at about 109 on the team… Notable absences?
    Anne Harty, 2010 Games athlete
    Pat Harty, 2010 Games Athlete
Sean V, probably too busy complaining about the government on Facebook to notice that the CF Games season is starting.

  5. Ahem, I don’t see Chris Lene on our team for the Open.

  6. Sabrina- Lene cant do the open due to a failed doping test last year. Too much estrogen in his blood, they assumed it was a masking agent.

  7. Amy and Doug Muraki: Where you at??

  8. Dave Mering, Chris Ballas, Soheil Payvandi, c’mon 6am crew, get signed up!

  9. Matt- don’t forget 2009 Games Athlete too! Haha

Matt- I thought the ruling was that Lene would have to compete as an over 55 woman.

  11. Anne… So Sorry!!!
Anne Harty: Two Times Games Athlete.
Pat Harty: Two Times Games Athlete.

  12. Lesley Heller

Both my kids have been on Dodge Ball teams and said it was a blast. I think though it is more about the drinking afterwards then the actual game.

  13. Brian

How are we doing on the numbers compared to other NorCal affilliates?

  14. Chris: I think you better sign up.

  15. I talked to Chris. He said he was going to win. Not sure what that means. I don’t think he actually reads this blog.

  16. and Topher who’s got a fever and the only Rx is “more chalk!”, you better sign up too.

  17. Alright, b!@#$%s, I am signed up. And it was just 2010 Games (break glass in case of emergency, if everyone else is injured then you go) Athlete…
