Rest Day
It was so awesome to have Olga and Jen participate in the USAW Tommy Kono Classic yesterday. (P-Bro's, you both were awesome too.) This was a hugely daunting task that these women put themselves up to and it made me very proud that I was able to coach them and see them through this competition. Most women their ages would laugh at the idea of entering a weightlifting competition. They wouldn't even consider it. These two faced their fear and in the process became better lifters and forced themselves to grow in a way that only happens when you put yourself in an uncomfortable situation. They trained hard and sported their singlets with pride, and I couldn't be more proud. Thanks to both of you for doing this and I look forward to the next one at Arden Hills on September 11th.
As for the rest of you, think about doing something that makes you uncomfortable. Set a goal, buy a singlet or whatever apparel is required, pay an entry fee, tell your friends what you're going to do, train, and complete your goal. You will come out of the experience a better person, and that's what it's all about.
