IMG_4645I first discovered CrossFit through word of mouth from friends. I was not a true believer until almost 4 years ago, when I found myself going 5 to 6 times a week. I lost 30 pounds and felt amazing. I was jumping higher, becoming stronger than I had ever been, and had stamina like never before. I was in love with CrossFit. I had even forgotten about the right ACL repair I had when I was 20 years old; my knee felt great.

Then, a little over a year ago, I tore my left ACL and it felt like all of my hard work went out the window. I stopped doing CrossFit while my repaired left ACL healed and am only just now getting back into it. I know I have a long way to go, but I am excited to have found a new CrossFit home. East Sac CrossFit and its members have been more than welcoming. I am inspired by the true athletes and trainers who seem to live and breathe CF. I am looking forward to learning, growing stronger, and pushing my limits at my new CF home.

Leah was telling me about her best friend who is doing CrossFit in the Caribbean while attending medical school at St George’s University.  There was a story featured on the non-profit affiliate, CrossFit True Blue, which was started by one of the students.  They participated in the Open with homemade medicine balls and welded barbells.  Here’s the story.
