Strength Sunday

Tips on the press from 70sbig. I told you guys to be one thumbs length outside the knurling, which allows you to get your full chest up and is better related to the jerk, but here's another perspective. See what works for you.

Coach Kari's last clean and jerk at the United Barbell meet last Sunday. 90kg (almost 200lbs). She placed 2nd in her session. Great job, Kari!

Those of you who are looking to (pumpkin!) spice up your workouts as we get into the swing of fall, there are 3 USAW olympic lifting meets coming up. Oct 7th and Nov 11th at Lincoln High School in San Francisco–entries are cheap, $10 and $20, so you don't have any excuses. Need USAW member registration to participate. Nov 4th is the Golden West Open in Redding, CA. I'll probably be competing in all 3, so you'll see at least one familiar face.

Nov 4th is the Women's only powerlifting meet at Super Training Gym here in Sac. I won't be at this one b/c of the Golden West Open. Midtown Strength and Conditioning is also hosting the Tactical Strength Challenge on Oct 20th, email taralouisegetty@gmail.com if you'd like to enter. It consists of 3 attempts at a max deadlift, 1 set of max strict pullups, and as many kb snatches in 5 mins as possible. Weight of kb determined by your division.

Tuesday 6pm: Squat surprise!

Thursday 6pm: Presses, push presses, push jerks

Sat 11am: Barbell Complex, some oly assistance work
