GYM OPENS AT 8:30AM on Saturday’s during the Open!
You may come as late as 10:30 to get started warming up.
We will run heats until everyone is finished.
A couple of things to remember and be aware of. Please read this so you don’t fuck it up!
1) REGISTRATION AND DEADLINES
If you haven’t registered, please do so now. BE SURE YOU ARE ACTUALLY AFFILIATED WITH CFES, just signing up does not affiliate you with our gym, you actually have to click “join an affiliate.” You have until Sunday at 5PM register, to complete your WOD, and to enter your score. If you do not enter your score for validation by the deadline, you will be disqualified from the rest of the Open. Please double check your friends to make sure they all have completed all the steps, there are no exceptions on late entries.
2) YOUR WOD, YOUR SCORES, and VALIDATION
Watch the online standards video EVERY WEEK, come into the gym, find a buddy to judge you, check in with a coach on your movement standards. DO NOT even think of performing the WOD without watching the entire movement standard video each and every week!
From there, its 3, 2, 1, GO! Be sure to follow all directions. For instance this week your judge must note the time you finish each set of snatches for tie breakers. You also must know the name of your judge for score entering purposes.
Once your WOD is finished, double check your scores with your judge and write them small and neat by your name on the gym leaderboard. Scores that are not on the board will not be validated. If the score you enter does not match the score on the board it will not be validated. BE ACCURATE!
I will validate the majority of the scores on Saturday’s after everyone has completed the WODs. If you end up doing a WOD on Sunday, I may not validate it until Monday. Scores must be in by Sunday’s at 5, but can be validated any time after that.
3) TRAVELING
If you are going to miss a week, find an affiliate to go visit and do the WOD there. If you do that, you will enter the score for validation by that affiliate, not by us! If you can’t get to an affiliate, please follow the video submission instructions TO THE TEE! Video submissions are another valid way to get your Open WODs if you have to travel.
4) CFES COMPETITION TEAMS FOR REGIONALS
order to do this, we have split the membership into 2 groups: a small
competitive squad (whose goal is to go to the 2013 CF Games) and the “B
Team” (whose goal is to qualify for Regionals and have a great time).
The B Team is made up of the general population of the gym. Our B Team
is one of the largest in Northern California with about 100 members.
we head in to the Open WODs, we wanted to let everyone know exactly
what the process is like to select the members of the B Team that will
take the field at Regionals in May. Everyone on the B Team is eligible
to compete at Regionals. At the end of the 5 Open WODs, we will select
the 4 men and 4 from the top 6 men and top 6 women
according to their NorCal Regional Rank (as opposed to an internal CFES
rank or Worldwide rank.) After regional WODs are announced and tested one woman and one man will become alternates for the regional competition.
process after the Open may include a series of competitive WODs, a
“rock, paper, scissors” contest or possibly a cage fight, all to be
determined later. The important message here is that if you want to take
the field at Regionals, you need to be in the top 6, you need to get
every rep you can on every WOD and you need to submit your scores on
time.IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE POST TO COMMENTS. OTHERS PROBABLY HAVE THE SAME QUESTIONS SO PLEASE SHARE!
