This past weekend we had 4 CFES athletes compete at the V3 Feed The Hungry Classic. Kyle Keller was the only veteran competitor of our group and held his own in the RX division ending up in the top ten. Gabe Liberman, Sherona Ramos, and Eric Harris all took the plunge together in their first competition in the scaled division. Not meaning to pick on his age again, but Eric is 41 and ended up competing with the youngsters and took 2nd place! Great job all around crew!
What I was really impressed with this weekend, was how this well this group took instruction. Being able to make adjustments to movements and pacing (Gabe!) workouts amidst the chaos and stress of a competitive environment was a great thing to witness. It’s too easy to just try and survive a workout. Being coachable is a skill like anything else in CrossFit.

One last thing: our athletes moved well. I’m very proud of that.

  1. Great job gang. Wish I could have been there to witness. Coachable and moving well is exactly what we want to hear. Props to Eric on kickin A against the youngsters.

Anybody have a CF recommendation for anywhere in Manhattan, preferably uptown (waaaaaaaaaaay uptown)? I’ll be a half a block from the 2nd to last A train stop,

I know that Dao Tran is an ex-CFES’er and lives in NYC. She’s on FB … I can ask for you if you don’t know her. Looks like she’s at Brick CF.

      Thanks, Eric!

Dao got back to me and she’s not that familiar with that part of town. She’s at Reebok Crossfit 5th Ave, and seems to really like it … on the bright side of things, she’s going to be back to CFES the week after Thanksgiving.

  5. Good job – way to go guys.

Huge thanks everyone that came out to watch and especially to Aaron for making it out to coach everyone … I’m sure there were plenty of other things he’d rather have been doing than looking after the four of us — well, actually the three of us since Kyle pretty much has the whole competition thing down. Anyway, the CFES team did great and kept legit form even when the refs were letting people get away with murder (that’s toes to BAR, right?). Now, back to trying to “walk” normally …

Agree.. I didn’t see any other coaches on the floor making changes to athletes or on the fly coaching at all. We kept our form throughout and pace… 105%. I was amazed how well we all moved, i.e. toes to bars vs. hanging dead fish swings… Thanks again Aaron!
