Hello fellow CFES members,  my name is Kal Phanavong, I’m 35, never been married and I don’t have any kids of my own but I do have an amazing nephew and a new baby niece that I get to borrow and return.  By day I help save the planet by designing residential solar systems for Solar City, and on weekend I’m a Friday night resident dance music DJ at Vanguard in downtown Sacramento, and various afterhours clubs in San Francisco. Unfortunately I don’t do weddings, but I know plenty of professional wedding DJ’s if anyone needs a reference.   I’m a former member of CFES making my return, and have been CFing for a total of 3 years, and I’m always looking to improve in all facets of my health, but mainly my diet as my motto right now is just, “clean plate”.

I’m originally from Thailand, and was born in a hut in the outskirts of Bangkok where my birth date was inscribed into the wall of the room I was born in.  TRUE STORY!!  My parents immigrated to the U.S. when I was a few months old seeking the American Dream.  Growing up I was always involved in youth/high school sports such as, baseball, football, basketball, and soccer.  I still stay active with weekend pickup games of basketball and am a member of a Sunday flag football team.

My short-term fitness goal is to be more consistent with my Olympic lifts and steadily add more weights.  While my long-term fitness goals I am hoping all the torturous WOD’s that I do now well pay off into a long and healthy life well into my late 90’s or century mark.  Say hi if you see me and don’t mind me if I’m gasping for air or bent over dry heaving.  That’s normal during and after a WOD, right?
