Great Day At Rocklin CF

Rest Day

Most of the gang from yesterday, Rocklin CF and CFES combined.

1st Saturday at Rocklin CF

It was a real blast to join up with another box to give this a real competition feel.  The energy was great, and the judges did their jobs well. Thanks to RCF for hosting us this week.  Gary and his crew did a great job keeping things on track and running smooth.  Unfortunately CF 209 Sport didn't make it out due to their nutrition seminar, but the next event will take place at their box whenever that may be.  For now it looks like it will be in two weeks, but keep your eye posted for updates.

Open Competition Status
HQ has an enormous task in trying to develop a website to compile 20,000 competitors scores, but they are really fucking things up right now.  The games website is only functioning at about 50%, so don't freak out if something doesn't seem to work, it'll get fixed eventually

The deadline for Week #1 WOD has been extended, so if any of you feel like you can do better than you did, you are welcome to attempt the WOD again for a better score.  Now they are saying that they are going to release the next workout a full week late on Tuesday March 29th.  We don't know if that means there are only going to be 5 workouts and the competition will be over when it's supposed to, or if the competition is going to go on for an extra week.  I am hoping they will reconsider and post the next workout this Tuesday, but that's not likely.  We can do WODs and post scores later, but the competition should not be dependent on their inability to get their database and website functioning.  I will keep you all informed on the blunders and updates as I get info.

You all are supposed to enter your own scores, but you probably won't be able to until the site is fixed.  Hold tight and watch for details.

Week #1 Scores:

Workout #1 Analysis:
This workout was a fair and true test of the skills involved.  With the light weight of the ground to overhead, output was very high and conditioning was a huge factor.  To score well in an AMRAP couplet involving double unders requires that one is highly proficient at doing double unders and even more so, doing double unders while completely gassed out.

The other factor that was apparent, was the impact of the pressure of competition.  Those who are familiar with competing and are able to control their level of arousal performed exactly as expected, or even better.  Those who are either less experienced with competing or are unable to control their anxiety levels did not perform as well as they normally would.

If your conditioning was poor or if your dubs are sub par, it showed up in your scores.  Ground to overhead technique was a factor, but not as much as it would have been with a significantly heavier weight.  Those with poor technique ground to overhead skated by on this one and were lucky that the weight was as light as it was.  In some cases, experienced athletes were actually able to employ poor ground to overhead technique to go even faster.  But that was only appeared to be true for those with excellent conditioning levels.

To sum it up, you got the score you deserved.  If you did well, great… your training has paid off.  If you did not perform as well as you hoped, take a good look at were you screwed up and start devising a plan to eliminate your weakness.  It's all about learning and developing folks.  Remember, your score today is only one leg of the race.  For some of you, your weakness may have been exposed this week, but your strengths are likely to be exposed in the weeks to come.  Things are gonna shake up throughout this whole thing.

With all that said, it was a great CF day, and I am very proud of all of you for throwing yourselves under this huge bus by participating.  At the end of this whole thing we are gonna have a huge party.  You all are my heros.
