Great Showing At Moxie’s Throwdown

Rest Day

Most of the crew who made the trip to San Jose with us yesterday.

We had an awesome time competing at CF Moxie yesterday.  Big congrats to Chris Michelmore for getting your box open and hosting a great event.  After the first WOD, myself, Travis, Brooke and Loren were in first place while Dave W., Kenso, Cherie, and Jeanne were in second place.  1st and 2nd out of 20 teams!  We also had the only 50+ year olds to compete in the throwdown.  Xenia Schwed, Lesley Heller, and John Michelmore represented very.  Just more indication that the Kool Aid (or at least the pre-game margaritas) at CFES is of the strongest blend.

Next, Chris hit us with one of the most creative, fun, and just plain awesome ideas as final event WOD for the top 4 teams.  It was based on the idea of the unknown and unknowable.  We started with 100 wall ball shots, then it was out of the building and all over the industrial complex finding out what we had to do when we got there and accumulating equipment from the exercises to carry with us all the way.  It was one of the most fun WODs I have ever done, just run were your told, do whatever your told when you get there, and carry the shit with you for the rest of the WOD.  Ended up being one arm snatches, burpees, and heavy deadlifts finishing with a 100m firemens carry.  Unfortunately there were a few hiccups and some confusion on how exactly the event was to be run.  We ended up losing significant time asking the judges to clarify what we were to do.  They weren't exactly sure so we just went to town.  Our teams went first and the 3rd and 4th place teams went next.  The second heat ran much soother.  The judges were better informed which allowed those teams to beat us by about 30 seconds each.  Then after is was over, nobody was really sure how the overall ranking would be decided.  No big deal.  We got 2 great workouts, had a fantastic showing, and had really fun CF day.

Nearby in Santa Cruz, Anne and Pat Harty attended day 1 of their CF level 1 certification and both did Fran as Rx at the end of the day.  Anne beat all the other women there with a non-PR time of 5:37, and Pat hit a 4:43.  Bad ass mofo's.  Tomorrow they will join the constantly growing group of CFES members to get Level 1 certified.
