This past weekend at Lake Tahoe a few of our members (Alice, Kyle, Harlan, Tony, Cori P., Alan, and Leah)  competed in the AdventureWOD put on by CF Anywhere. Despite the inclement weather this was a great competition to watch/judge. All the staples of a typical CrossFit competition were present such as: a strength ladder, muscle ups, burpees, kettle bell swings/snatches, and a hill run. What made this competition stand out was that it had some unusual movements and events Crossfitters don’t regularly do such as: cycling, partner paddleboarding, and partner isometric holds (above the Kellers are doing a one handed handstand hold for 2 minutes). If you’re wanting to participate in a local competition keep your eyes on the blog as we post events on the sidebar. Keep this event in mind for next year for sure.

Props to all the CFES peeps who came out and threw down!

I don’t think I’d trust my husband to not drop me on my face in that situation.

Somebody do Rookie Rumble with me! 12/8 in Hercules, 1year or less experience. I’m signed up but really don’t want to do it alone! It sounds like it sells out quickly.

You think they check CF ID’s for the “rookie” qualifications?

I’m def thinking about doing this. Never competed and it will be a year since I started in December.
Read they require a CF coach to sign a declaration that your within the 1 year time frame.

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night. . . Good job battling the elements as well as the WODs up in Tahoe this weekend you guys and gals.

One question: Do we have a picture of Alice holding up Kyle?

Unusual movements CrossFitters do no not regularly do like … Surf 5 foot swells on a paddle board – ride your bike in a monsoon – oh and suffer from hypothermia. I would say I was semi prepared for these unknowns and the unknowable. Next years goal for Adventure WOD: Do not die. I did however enjoy the strength ladder, run, and isometric holds.

Great job everyone. We were certainly thinking about you all during the storm on Saturday. Way to be tough! You guys (meaning gals too) make us proud.

  5. Very fascinating details you’ve got noted, appreciate this for publishing.
