Of course their shirts had to be off…..

Congratulations to all who competed in the SacTown Throwdown! This competition was a great test of overall fitness. Surprising the competitiors with a few unfamiliar tasks seen in a typical contest really made this event stand out. An enormous thank you to all of our volunteers. It could not have been such an awesome event without all of your hard work. You guys kicked ass!

We could not be prouder of our box's three teams. We had new faces to competition who rocked it in the novice, and our veterans took another podium finish with big help from "one WOD a month" Lene. The Open team got another top five finish in a major competition (just one more place up and we're Games Bound).

A big shout out to our Division Champions: Diablo1 (Open), Redding (Novice), Rocklin (Masters)

How did everybody like the Accuracy Floater WOD?

Another great year for STTD! Thank you Justin, Blair, all the awesome volunteers & spectators that made it, yet again, a great event to punish myself with! Every team that represented CFES did outstanding! I couldn’t be more proud to work along side such a great group of people daily. To Big “shirtless” Al, Travis & CP, I couldn’t ask for better people to train with, laugh with, scream at(yolk carry) and dominate with with! You each are inspiring and make me to be better for team CFES. Thanks for pushing yourselves thru the “suck” this wkd.

Let’s just say the only spear hunter in the group is Trav. Leah and I would starve in the wild without him!?!

Justin, Blair, and all our hard working volunteers thank you for an amazing event. It is nice to know our box is strong man beasts! AND it was cool to have different events rather than the run of the mill movements we have all seen before. It made the “suck” a tiny bit less bad. I love my CFES family andI would suffer for you/with you any day of the week. Well except today because I’m pretty tired and I think I have Trav’s nasty cold : (

  6. I second the great big thank-yous to Justin, Blair and especially all of the hard-working volunteers. It was great to have so many familiar faces from CFES cheering for us, coaching us, and yes, even no-repping us! Thanks again for including a masters division and for letting us old folks represent CFES. I had a blast competing, and especially enjoyed watching our novices throw themselves in there and be spectacular! Cori, Leah, Al and Trav, you all were so inspiring, as usual! Donna, Lene, and Matt, you were awesome teammates! Now excuse me, I need to go take my Geritol and soak in some epsom salts. I feel like I carried something really, really heavy, a very, very long way yesterday.

Hats off to the great CFES teams! The event was fantastic and well run. Couldn’t have had a better time watching all the great athletes! Thanks to the volunteers, Justin and Blair for making it such an amazing weekend.

Congratulations to all of our teams! It is no coincidence that Justin had to have equipment specially fabricated for you called Beast Metals! All of you brought your A game and showed how hard you are training and how incredibly fit you are. And congratulations, Justin, on another phenomenal event! You and Blair know how to do it right.

CrossFit Santa Cruz athletes had a great time this weekend at your event. It was a lot of fun, and a well-rounded test of our fitness (which was are all feeling today). The accuracy floater WOD was excellent. Thanks so much for having us.

Seriously? You guys that competed this weekend are actually posting at 9:00 in the morning today? I’m just now coming out of my haze.
So grateful for the opportunity to compete this weekend. It was actually so much MORE FUN than I thought it would be!! 🙂 0k. Except for the yoke carry. That actually totally sucked way more than I thought possible — and I let everyone know my displeasure through my bitching, grunting and groaning the whole way through. Thanks to my teammates for putting up with that! @ Lene – Yes, I will try to keep quiet next time and focus on my breathing instead! 😉
Such an awesome event in that it really tested such a diverse skill set (and non-skill set — aka: spear-throwing). Congrats to Blair for such innovative programming and to Justin for making all of the myriad pieces of this event come together!
Congrats to the Novice and Open teams! So great to cheer you guys on and to share in each other’s triumphs and miseries (yes, the yoke carry.)
Last, but not least, thank you to all of you who volunteered your time and energy to make this event possible for us by getting there way early and standing in the cold all day and staying late to clean up! You made this all possible for us! 🙂

I am sore for sure! Donna-Matt-Sabrina, we seriously did so well considering all things. Donna you stepped up huge in many areas and you can scream and moan however you see fit, just don’t forget to breath! Sabrina kicked ass and silently just plugged along as usual! Matt, holy crap you banged out push-ups like travis without a vest! (AND WE ARE OLD!) I had a blast and appreciate you guys allowing me to compete with you. I loved watching the rest of you kids get after it and smash certain wods. CrossFit is certainly getting more diverse and tougher to be good at everything. This competition certainly exposed weaknesses! Throwing spears clearly isn’t one of ours! (I really want to see that on video if anyone has it!)

  12. donna

LOL! Lene that video would show you completely DOMINATING the spear throwing, with Matt and Sabrina right behind you. Me, on the other hand? Well, I only had time to throw 3 and I don’t think the first two even reached the target! I did manage to get that last one to stick purely by using my extra-sensory telekinesis skills in just willing it there. So, if we were truly in caveman time, Lene, Matt and Sabrina would be feasting on bison and I may have enjoyed a small rodent or reptile now and then. 🙂
So, let’s us OLD PEOPLE get to work on the Open this year!! 😉
@Lene: no beer. don’t be afraid of your greatness, man!

    Note To Self…
Daddy-Duty tonight. No gym, but took the kids to the park and hung the rings.
    30 MUs for Time = 7:31
-Wanted to do 1 mu every 15 seconds. Was going a bit faster, but failed on attempt 19. Failed 4 more attempts on 29 and 30.

  14. Great job to all the CFES teams!!
Jarrod: awesome job on getting in the wod on daddy duty. 30 MU are
    Legit!
