Loosen up

This clip is a little long but hilarious.  Say what you want but yoga works!
Many of you either bolt or roll out of class.  Maybe its because… oh yeah you have a job you need to get to.  Or perhaps you think after pushing your body to total exertion the best thing to do is curl up in a stagnant ball.  Regardless of your reasons or excuses, its time you took ownership of your after hours care.  You will be amazed at how adding yoga or simply stretching will aid in recovery.  And hello…proper recovery means stronger more powerful bodies, means you get to beat yourself up even more AND post fasters times.

There are umpteen types of yoga.  Yoga can be done as a workout itself or for your purposes perhaps auxiliary work.  It promotes body awareness that, lets face it, some of you are lacking.  What is important is to find balance, both physical and mental.  Find what works best for you.  CrossFit and yoga can and should go hand in hand.  The importance of core strength and flexibility can’t be emphasized enough.  Balance, coordination, flexibility and accuracy are all elements of Crossfit fitness.  Being a CrossFitter provides awesome benefits.  One benefit is mental health, with that said you are all getting smarter.  So, use your brain LOOSEN UP! Find/make time to stretch and incorporate some yoga moves post workout or on your off days  (like today perhaps.)
If you don’t want to call it yoga,
call it stretching,
call it a post workout,
call it “My post wods are your workouts.”

  1. Good post, Jackie. I have a few favorite stretches I learned in yoga classes a long time ago that I still do because they work.

Huh, and I thought yoga was just good for making your drive your prius like an asshole around the corner in the parking lot.
    Namaste mutherfuckers!!!!!

Mike… Nice attempt at stirring the pot again. Now all we need is the yoga studio blasting us for the next 5 days, asking for meetings that you need not attend and all for a comment that has been used 5x before! You are more creative than that… Don’t type just to read yourself.

Do you think there are google police looking for that phrase, or do you think they monitor our blog? Don’t forget we might get a meritless letter from an attorney that must have owed someone a big favor.
All my yoga jokes involve farting or confusing it with frozen yogurt. I stretch 30 minutes to an hour 4-5 nights a week, but the idea of being in a room with a bunch of farting downward facing dogs is about as appealing as slamming my goodies in a door over and over again for an hour.
